Testing jaunty, I'm experiencing a quite similar problem which might be related:
When EXA was enabled by default, everything was fine (and even faster than intrepid). At some point of time (unfortunately I don't know which update caused it), flash performance and general responsivity got much worse. Since then, I'm also experiencing "blackouts", where xorg just seem to put my monitor to standby. I'm able to switch back by changing to a terminal console. I tried AccelDFS with minimal (maybe none) effect. I know this is not a very constructive comment, I'm just out of ideas on how to debug this problem.
