Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

2.6.28-8-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 24 01:50:03 UTC 2009 x86_64
GNU/Linux

I was running a bit low on battery so I tried to suspend my laptop.
Normally I don't have any problems with suspend, but today it took
longer than usual and some error info was printed to the console about a
freeze failure concerning gnome-power-manager. Eventually my laptop came
back to life in a numbed-down way and it froze when I shut it down.

After an Alt+SysReq reboot I repeated the suspend and the same things
happened. After I had rebooted again and connected the mains I had no
problem suspending and resuming.

Unfortunately I don't have the pm-suspend log left from the incident but
I'm attaching an excerpt from /var/log/messages that I think is
relevant.
