I did try the Nvidia 173 driver but it made no difference. I finally decided to upgrade to 8.10 and that installed the 177 driver. This finally solved my problem. Here is my new xorg.conf;
# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page. # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.) # # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only* # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg # package. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True" Defaultdepth 24 EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" Driver "nvidia" EndSection # commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used #Section "InputDevice" # Identifier "Generic Keyboard" # Driver "kbd" # Option "XkbRules" "xorg" # Option "XkbModel" "pc105" # Option "XkbLayout" "us" #EndSection # commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used #Section "InputDevice" # Identifier "Configured Mouse" # Driver "mouse" # Option "CorePointer" #EndSection Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Default Layout" screen "Default Screen" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSection Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Enable" EndSection ** Description changed: During my upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy (with all current updates) I lost output from the DVI on my Nvidia Geforce 6600. As soon as X starts, the screen goes black. The system continues to boot normally. My VGA output works normally. I am running the Nvidia accelerated driver. If I disable the the accelerated driver I do get DVI output but an unacceptable resolution that I can't seem to modify in any way. Attached is my xorg.conf and xorg.0.log + + This is now Solved for me by upgrade to 8.10 -- No DVI Output from Geforce 6600 Under Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326151 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
