Running gnome-keyboard settings from a bash shell, and changing to an
spanish layout the following is displayed:

dpy: 0x9ae6418
evt/error/major/minor: 118/165/1/0

and a dialog box opens with the following message:

Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation

- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
