Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Hi, I am going to enlist this as a wishlist, but in this report, I am
asking that wouldn't it make more sense if the viewable scrollback lines
for open chats in pidgin were removed in sync with the line_count
exceeding max_scrollback_lines?

Rather than what it is currently:
     line_count > (max_scrollback_lines + 100)

Also, maybe a more saner value for the "conversations/scrollback_lines"
setting. Say, 500 or 1000 instead of its current default of 4000. Which could
be a cause for alot of consumption of memory, if the user has, say 2 dozen busy
chats open?
Also, I think it would be a nice feature if this setting were made accessible
to alter via the "Preferences" window, allowing the user to be aware of it and
that they can alter it.

Attached to this report is a patch against the current jaunty sources as
of this date with the changes I've made mention of.

You are free to consider any views about this, and feedback would be
greatly appreciated.

Regards
Iain
