I just had to restart my PC 2 times, before I could start this session. I remembered, that I had the same problem on my notebook. It is an ASUS A6Q00VA. I couldn't boot Linux after a kernel update. Not even the safe mode would start. Perhaps the problem lies in kernel and not in grub?
