Public bug reported: this is a HP mini 2140 laptop, with Jaunty.
when i boot the laptop, then the network card is sometimes not recognized. it seems that if the network-cable is not connected at boot-time, the network-card is usually not recognized. when the network-cable is connected at startup, the network-card is usually recognized. i'm saying "usually" here, because i didn't do so many tests to see if it's 100% like i described. (because bug 336628 it's hard to test such things) when the network-card is detected, lspci contains this: " 20:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Device 436c (rev 10) " and the module used is "sky2". if the network-card is not detected, lspci simply does not contain this line. the laptop comes preinstalled with suse linux enterprise desktop 10, there the network-card is detected always correctly. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Marvell Technology Group ethernet card sometimes not detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338707 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
