I have the exact same issue. Some times the mouse works ok, but most of the time it requires up to 7 clicks to register as a single click. Not to mention when trying to click on links in web pages, sometimes it will grab the link and it requires 4 of 5 clicks to release it. This is definitely not happening when I plug that same mouse into Windows - it works perfectly, so it must be Ubuntu.
