I'm willing to do all that (in the measure I understood it).

I only have this issue with OO, though. So if it is a problem with the
device driver that would strike me as odd...

I have reproduced the issue several times. It might be important to say
that the issue always occurs (without exception).

I have attached Xorg.0.log

In /var/log/gdm/* I could find any errors related to the matter.

This is what I found in var/log/syslog:

Mar  7 12:00:38 xerix kernel: [ 3243.299121] atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed 
(translated set 2, code 0xd8 on isa0060/serio0).
Mar  7 12:00:38 xerix kernel: [ 3243.299128] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e058 
<keycode>' to make it known.

I don't know what you are referring to with 'lsusb' and 'dmesg'...
