Thanks for the feedback. You can select the default multimedia player:

System -> Preferences -> Preferred Applications

It's also possible to startup an mediaplayer if you insert an audio CD.
Gnome asks you what to do when you insert a audio CD. Maybe you've told
gnome to remember you decision about 'do nothing'? Examining the
information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report
so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support
tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would
make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker
