Public bug reported: Binary package hint: alsa-base
Hello, I have recently experienced a common bug on a new HP Pavilion, specifically concerning sound. In this bug, one would turn the computer on, and no sound will come out at all, even though both hardware and driver was detected. Through the infinite wisdom of the experienced people who saw my question in the Launchpad Answers section, I have found the correct solution to to this problem, specifically; Opening /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and adding these lines # Keep snd-pcsp from beeing loaded as first soundcard options snd-pcsp index=-2 alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1 options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1 Even though I am using Ubuntu 8.10, this is a common bug found in multiple distros. Alsa-base version 1.0.17 by the way. Is there anyway to fix this bug in a patch or update, so people who buy Pavilions will automatically be able to use sound on Ubuntu without trawling the internet, looking for a fix like I have? If there is a fix eminent, then I apologise in advance for wasting your time. Thank you for taking the time to see this. ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- HP Pavilion Sound Issues w/ fix https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340205 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
