Public bug reported: Binary package hint: alsa-tools
Upon suggestion from here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting , am posting this frustrating error. Ubuntu 8.04 SMP running dual processors of AMD 1600+ 2gb RAM apt-cache: 1.5.5 (modified) lspci shows this: 00:0b.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 02) 00:0b.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 02) 00:0c.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 02) 00:0d.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 07) 00:0d.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Live! Game Port (rev 07) 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500] (rev a1) while 'aplay -l' shows this: aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** (ie., none) I was expecting to see at least one card in aplay -l. Even after the attempted manual reinstall of alsa, was expecting to see at least one of them, preferably both. The above lists are what happened instead. Thanks in advance Paul ** Affects: alsa-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- SMP 8.04 not seeing both emu-10k1 and bt878 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340290 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
