that's not really necessary. The process requires mainly to investigate the changes that has been done between the version currently in ubuntu and version 0.5. AFAIUI, the changes not too grave, but still considerable. I don't *expect* regression but I wouldn't be surprised if there were. For the other issues I can only suggest to file bugs in launchpad with references in what upstream svn revision they have been fixed, preferably linked to upstream bug reports. That's a convenient way for documenting your research on the changes in the proposed new package.
