@Jeremy: If you look at the kernel docs, ext4 is considered stable. I personally haven't seen a problem with several systems running ext4. It only becomes an issue if your system is unstable and you're using software that "assumes" ext3 (and older) behavior.
@all: I believe that having ext4 "mimic" the behavior of ext3 makes it ext3 with extents. I believe that would negate all of the purpose of delayed allocation.
