Thank you for taking the time to report this problem and help to improve
Ubuntu.

The backtrace indicates some kind of corruption of the freetype
library's internal state.  Do you still see this bug with the final
release of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, or with Ubuntu 8.10 or jaunty?  If so, is it
reproducible or is it entirely intermittent?

If this is memory corruption, we probably need the output of running
gnome-terminal under valgrind in order to find this bug; but that won't
be easy if the crash is intermittent.
