Dear Chris,
the behavior of the system (Ubuntu 8.1) is all the time the same: if it
is Ubuntu, Kubuntu - does not make a difference.
I have no idea if you see it as a bug or compatibility problem... It is
for you to decide. I am an user and I have no technical training nor
ambition.
It is a problem as published solutions do not solve this problem.
It is difficult to use Nisis Tablet with the system. I have seen many
posts of people like me trying to find out what to do. I thought it is
important.
I have no personal ambition other than using my computer.

In short:
1. Fresh install Ubuntu 8.1
2. install aiptek driver
3. connect Tablet (pointer moves around but no trace of the function or
brush paint on the srceen)
4. reboot
5. system asks for user and password
6. black screen 30-45 sec.
7. system asks for user and password
8. black screen 30-45 sec.
9. system asks for user and password
10. disconnected tablet from usb
11. normal start of the system
12. connected Tablet - works: moving pointer and brush draws a line...

If I try to repeat the sequence everything always happens the same way.
If it is a bug or misbehavior I have no idea. Somebody wrote that the
use of devices like tablet was redefine in 8.1 and it should work better...

Please tel me if there is a way to address this problem, if not I will
be using the system as now rebooting without Tablet, connecting it later.

Best regards. I think all of you did excellent job in designing and
maintaining this system. I wish I was more helpful. Thank you for your time.

PS. If you want to close the question on the net do not hesitate to do
it. I will follow your advise.
