Tested using Live Alpha 6. Safe graphics mode was not enabled. Without ATI card installed:
-usplash hung Steps to debug: Removed quiet and usplash. GNOME loaded, but "Applications" menu text was unreadable and keyboard/mouse were unrespsonive. Removed quiet and usplash, added debug=....screen went blank. arror remained on screen. GNOME did not finish loading.
