Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I have a Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop running Ubuntu Edgy (latest updates
as of 12/29/06).

No matter what setting I chose for closing the lid (I tried blank screen
and nothing), I get logged off Gnome and come back to gdm when I open
the lid. When I open it, something is happening on the screen, i.e.
maybe gdm gets started right then and there. But the logging off happens
right when you close the lid, because I noticed that my programs stop to
run immediately.

/var/log/messages shows:
Dec 28 20:32:34 localhost kernel: [17255360.224000] video bus notify
Dec 28 20:32:34 localhost gnome-power-manager: (squisher) Doing nothing because
the lid has been closed on ac power
Dec 28 20:32:40 localhost gconfd (squisher-15746): Received signal 15, shutting
down cleanly
Dec 28 20:32:40 localhost gconfd (squisher-15746): Exiting

I've seen various other bug reports about hibernate not working
correctly etc - these may very well be related, but I haven't seen any
bug report about the getting logged off problem.

Here is another report of this bug in the ubuntu forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=304051

Please contact me if any debugging is needed, I'd like to get this back
to normal, since it's very annoying (specially when someone expects to
keep a program running and closes the lid).
