Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am running tightvncserver from the command line, using the default
options, having set a password. I can then connect to this desktop
remotely, using tightvncviewer under Windows.

This is stable.

However, the windows do not have title bars and may not be moved. I
notice that metacity is not running. I start it manually in a terminal
("metacity &"). The title bars appear and the system may be used.

However, it does not take much to bring down the system. An example
would be to try and run Synaptic Package Manager. Having entered my
password again, the session is killed.

The following error appears in /var/log/messages:

Mar 17 14:13:18 petrucci bonobo-activation-server (tmg-26559): could not
associate with desktop session: Failed to co
nnect to socket /tmp/dbus-iqho7SsUe7: Connection refused

I have turned off Visual Effects for my user.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Tris.
