I can confirm this behaviour on Jaunty Jackalope alpha6, likewise on an X30, and likewise Gutsy Gibbon worked on this machine. I've never run Hardy on this machine, though.
I'm afraid I don't see anything that looks even remotely relevant in the logs... presumably that means it locked up before anything useful made it into the logs? -- thinkpad x30 freezes up a few minutes after bootup. can only hard shutdown.
