Ah yes you are right. But this is a bug in gksu. See the gconf
key /apps/gksu/disable-grab. If you turn that off, you won't see window
borders at all.

** Also affects: gksu (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
       Status: Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Odd gksudo dialogue when enabling samba shares
+ gksu has buggy window borders

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: nautilus-share
+ When the gconf key /apps/gksu/disable-grab is set, gksu has strange
+ window borders (compiz + gtk-window-decorator), as seen in the
+ attachment.

- In Nautilus I right-clicked on a folder and selected "Sharing Options",
- then I ticked the "Share this folder" option in the window that popped
- up, and was offered to install Samba. I agreed and was presented with a
- very peculiar gksudo prompt: it had a window frame (with a transparent
- gap between frame and contents) and the rest of the desktop was still
- accessible, instead of darkened and unfocusable as usual.
-
- Attached you can find a screenshot which clarifies what I mean. Note
- that on a normal gksudo prompt I wouldn't be able to take a screenshot.
-
- You may notice from the screenshot that I'm using Emerald with a custom
- theme; I don't think it is at all related to this problem though, since
- all other gksudo dialogues display fine.
-
- Also notice that the "Folder Sharing" icon used seems to be out of
- theme, it looks like an old Gnome one rather than one from the Human
- icon set.
-
- I don't think the problem is critical, but this is almost certainly a
- bug.
-
- This is on Intrepid, with nautilus-share at version 0.7.2-0ubuntu7 and
- everything else also at its latest version as of this writing.
+ To test:
+ 1. Run gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/gksu/disable-grab true
+ 2. Run gksudo echo
+ 3. Observe strange window borders
