Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scons

When I try to build Widelands (widelands.org) from source, it does not
work with Python 2.6, I get the following error:

Checking for a working C++ compiler ... no
Can't even compile the simplest C++ program! Your setup is beyond broken.
Repair it, then try again.

Looking at build/config.log shows me:

g++ -o build/sconf_temp/conftest_0.o -c - D N O P A R A C H U T E - D D E B U G
-Ibuild/native-debug build/sconf_temp/conftest_0.cc
g++: D: No such file or directory
g++: N: No such file or directory
g++: O: No such file or directory
g++: P: No such file or directory
etc.

Changing the symlink /usr/bin/python to python2.5 solves the problem.
It looks like there have been bug reports about scons failing with python2.6
before and that this should be fixed by now, but in this case it isn't.
