As I wrote in my bug report, this bug is already fixed in Audacity 1.3.5. Intrepid is already using version 1.3.5 and Jaunty has version 1.3.7 so the problem is fixed for newer Ubuntu releases, though it may still be a problem for users of 8.04 LTS.
