Public bug reported:

When working with encrypted files (using pdf2ps on a password protected pdf,
without giving the password for example) the characters of the terminal get
remapped. An "a" will then be changed to an unreadable special character.
Everything appears to be complete gibberish from that point on. Also the window
title gets mangled.
The console is still functional though. Simply typing "reset" (it can't be
read, but it gets written) clears everything up again.
This not only happens with the gnome-terminal but also in the virtual consoles
accessed by Strg+Alt+F1-6

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10.
