Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp
Ubuntu 8.10, video card HIS HD 4650, driver Catalyst 8.x~9.x When taking screenshots for selected regions (GIMP File\Create\Screenshot\Area\Select a region to grab), my computer will completely freeze, the only thing can do is the hold power button for 6 seconds to power off. Making screenshots for the whole desktop, selected window is fine. Everything works fine for my onboard video card (which is nvidia 7050/610i, but the power management failed for nvidia card). Step to replicate: 1. a computer with ATI card, install catalyst driver 8.x or 9.x, 2. start gimp, select File\Create\Screenshot\Area\Select a region to grab, then start dragging the cursor 3. computer will not respond unless power off (It could either gimp or fglrx-driver was making the trouble) ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- computer freezes when making screenshot for selected region https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350363 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
