Thank you for confirming my solution. I think the problem will be solved at the root now and soon no workarounds will be necessary anymore (afaik). Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/jaunty/beta#Suspend/resume%20testing The Kernel Team seems to be dealing with issues regarding suspend/resume now.
But personally i find it a little frustrating, that we already had worked out a solution (inclusive .debdiff provided by Chow Loong Jin - hyperair) and it did not find its way into ubuntu...
