temporary remedy :

- kill the process "hald"

- identify the device with "ls -lah /dev/disk/by-label" , will display
something like this :
  drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 160 2009-03-29 13:50 .
  drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 120 2009-03-29 13:51 ..
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  10 2009-03-29 13:42 ACER -> ../../sda1
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  10 2009-03-29 13:42 LinuxG -> ../../sda5
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   9 2009-03-29 13:53 Ubuntu\x209.04\x20i386 ->
../../sr0
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  10 2009-03-29 13:50 WALKMAN -> ../../sdb1
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  10 2009-03-29 13:42 X-Files -> ../../sda2
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  10 2009-03-29 13:42 xubuntuG -> ../../sda4

- mount your device :
  sudo mkdir /media/walkman
  sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /media/walkman

- done

ok, the problem it's bigger; as i said this is just a temporary remedy
to access to your player.
