I have an Asus P5B-VM SE motherboard. I seem to have nearly the same problem, but my keyboard does nothing. Anyway, I discovered that suspend works on my computer if I set the system to use S3 suspend instead of S1. Try that and see if suspend works once you set it to S3 (or auto, if you bios has that setting). HTH
