/usr/lib/xscreensaver/distort For arguments, use "-root", that is: run -root in order to run it fullscreen (since only running it in a window does not crash). However, for this to work, you should log in to a "Failsafe Terminal" session, otherwise the distort screensaver (on the background "root" window) will not be visible.
