I believe I have correctly fixed the duplication issue. However I am not an expert packager, so I am not sure exactly how the side-by-side installation (wx2.6 and wx2.8) should work, so the control files may need modification. Also, do the wx2.x-i18n packages really conflict? Should python-wxaddons be renamed to python-wxaddons2.8 ?
Fix Method: setup.py was patched to include the extra_directory in all setup calls debian/rules changed to be compatible with new locations, better python-wxaddons handling debian/rules added linking to .egg-info files from wx2.x-gtk2-unicode dirs I currently have wx2.6 and 2.8 side by side (except i18n), and I can run spe with the built-in python shell (my reason to patch) Attached is the diff.gz for wx2.8, wx2.6 will follow ** Attachment added: "Fix duplication for side-by-side compatibility with wx2.6" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24561047/wxwidgets2.8_2.8.9.1-0ubuntu5.diff.gz -- package python-wxgtk2.6 2.6.3.2.2-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/wxPython/__init__.py', which is also in package python-wxgtk2.8 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/337696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
