Ok... I still can't reproduce this with the 9.04 i386 Beta CD: http://releases.ubuntu.com/9.04/ubuntu-9.04-beta-desktop-i386.iso
The only thing I did on the desktop live cd (after selecting English at boot) was download and install the OMS extension from this site: http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/OMS And then typed in the sentence in this screenshot (from the original bug reporter) and it showed fine for all words: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23282749/Screenshot.png I'm at a loss at how you are seeing this even inside the live cd environment... Can you tell the EXACT steps from power on (including live cd options you used) to make this show up with underlined words?
