Adam: by disconnecting & reconnecting, or uninstalling bluez, you reset
the device to work in a legacy compatibility mode (the BIOS & linux wil
see it as an USB keyboard & mouse).  The result is that you can't use
bluetooth for e.g. connecting to your mobile phone.

This sounds like the same bug that people have reported since at least
back in 2006 but that gets routinely ignored & then closed by some
developers (even after people say it's not fixed yet).

I hope you'll have more luck, and someone will actually look at it this
time...
