I agree that it's suboptimal that the media checker succeeds while the installer fails, but unfortunately there isn't really much we can do. They *are* actually using the very same driver, and I can't think of any "access mode" that might differ. The only thing that's different is that the installer is reading files in a different order and in different ways (of course, since the system has booted as a live CD, and it now needs to copy files off it).
Sometimes, unfortunately, different read patterns just seem to show up different errors. I would love to be able to do something about this, but I don't think there's much we can do. I don't have a "Can't Fix" status available to me, but that's what I mean ... ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Colin Watson (cjwatson) -- Install has CD failure even though "media test" succeeds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322873 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
