Public bug reported:

I used apt-get install nvidia-glx and edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf as nvidia
website recomended.
Everything worked fine.
After that I installed driver from:
Applications->Add/Remove..->System Tools->Nvidia binary X.Org driver
after reboot XServer did not start, there was an error: "Screens not found"
I edited xorg.conf (nvidia->nv) and after that everything worked OK but screen
position is not correct.
You cannot fix this by unchecking Applications->Add/Remove..->System
Tools->Nvidia binary X.Org driver and doing apt-get remove nvidia-glx and after
that apt-get install nvidia-glx.
This happend with two different hardware configurations (and kernels):
A8N motherboard with Athlon 64 3200+ CPU and Asus EN7600GS GPU
P5B motherboard with Intel E6300 CPU and Nvidia Quadro NVS280 GPU

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
