Eduard, I'm sorry, I should have had you try a daily build cd: there are significant fixes which weren't included on beta1. It would be great if you could download the current daily livecd from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and retest. (Kubuntu vs ubuntu shouldn't make any difference here).
