Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
The Herd1 LiveCD boots fine on my ThinkPad A20m and everything-1 works fine running from the LiveCD: I am able to mount my normal swap and home partitions and use them, as I am doing right now. The -1 is the installer - it "goes away" after step 4, and never returns (in other words, I get prompted for localization settings, and nothing more). None of the log files are "interesting", as far as I can tell. Please let me know what I can attach to assist with this. Restarting X (ctrl-alt-backspace) appears to work fine - that is, I can continue with my LiveCD session. Note that this machine has three partitions: /dev/hda1, ext3 (destined to be /); /dev/hda2, swap; /dev/hda3, ext3 (home). Herd1 installation never gets to the partitioner (as far as I can tell), but I thought partition information might be an interesting data point. I will continue running under LiveCD until Herd2, then try again (I cannot use daily builds as this machine does not have a DVD reader). I cannot revert to my / installation, as I made the mistake of running "update-manager -c -d" a few days ago, and got bitten by a bad libc6 bug (AFAICT). ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Herd1 LiveCD boots, but installer hangs after step 4 https://launchpad.net/bugs/78298 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
