Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

The other day I ran

    update-manager -c -d

from within my perfectly good Edgy system on my ThinkPad A20m. The
installation appeared to make good progress, downloading MBs of
packages, configuring, etc.

Whilst configuring libc6, it encountered a problem and dumped core. From
then on, almost every command I typed dumped core. I cannot reboot the
system, it gets to init bottom and hangs.

I'm running under the Herd1 LiveCD. For fun, I copied all libc6 files
from the live session to my old /, and tried rebooting. No better.

FYI, I cannot install Herd1: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/78298
