Public bug reported: This is related to fixing the #1 bug. I found it hard to configure dual screens on Kubuntu Jaunty.
1) I have never succeeded with the NVIDIA driver using the NVIDIA's tool. I don't know if it is the KDE or X that fails to full fill the definitions. I always get some corruption on the screen. But I'm willing to put this aside since the driver doesn't support XRANDR. And I truly hope this changes in the future behalf of NVIDIA... 2) I tried with the Nouveau driver; since it is XRANDR 1.2 enabled. I was able to modify screen resolutions with ease with KDE's System Settings and the XRANDR rotation tool (installed by default). Very nice since I haven't been always able to do this! But still so very standard! And when I wanted something else than clone I was forced to do both 1) modify the XORG by hand and 2) to create complex scripts to handle the XRANDR. Very hard, not a good out-of-the-box experience... :( ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Configuring dual screens is hard in Kubuntu Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
