This is not solved for ATI. I have an ATI 9600GT running the open source driver (there is no proprietary driver for Jaunty) The System goes into and out of S3 sleep once per session. AFter that, it tries to go down and gets stuck on a blinking cursor or the video shuts off, but won't come back up. It requires a push of the reset button on the tower to restart the machine.
