The Amarok menu icon is still working for me (following upgrade from
Intrepid).

Things to look at:
- Is that the only Amarok icon in the menu? Try going to Applications, then 
Multimedia. If there's another one that works, add it to your favourites, and 
remove the dud.
- Uninstall Amarok (for maximum effect, "sudo aptitude purge amarok"), then 
reinstall it ("sudo aptitude install amarok" or via kpackagekit), and see if it 
works.
- Go into menu editor (right click on the menu button, then click menu editor) 
and find the page for Amarok--in my (working) system, the command it has stored 
is: "amarok %U"
