I have the exact same problem with dell 700m 160 GB samsung PATA drive. After resume dmesg has the exact same pattern as reported earlier
<snip> ata1: device not ready (errno=-16), forcing hardreset <post> I recompiled 2 versions of 2.6.28.9 vanilla kernel so that I get drives as /dev/hda* with one and /dev/sda* with another. I am getting the EXACT same behavior with ALL kernels. Also, I used libata.noacpi=1 when drives are mounted as /dev/sda* but did not change the behavior.
