Bryan,

I regret that the subject system has since been decomissioned and I no
longer have it, so I can't test the fix. It was working with Windows XP
Pro, but only after the download of a driver from a TI web site. XP
didn't handle MMC cards natively over some particular size limit, but
did so perfectly once TI's driver was installed.

Subject: [Bug 206255] Re: System lockup on use of PCI7420 Cardbus
Controller

Dave and Alan,

Is that possible for you guys to try latest Jaunty kernel 2.6.28 on your
machine? And if it is possible, please follow the wiki
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies to report bug.

As you guys described here, it looks like the issue about the driver in
kernel "drivers/mmc/host/tifm_sd.c" or something related it. We will
take a look at this bug.

One more question, is the hardware OK on you side? is it OK in Windows?

Thanks
-Bryan

Status in “linux” source package in Ubuntu: Triaged

Bug description:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic

Using hardy-heron-beta fully updated , when inserting my SD-RAM card
into reader the whole system locked up and refused to respond to any
keyboard commands, mouse movement anything.

This function partially worked in Gusty however it was a bit hit-and-
miss

I was expecting the card to be available through Places > Computer but
as I mentioned, the whole computer froze solid.

It is a LG-LS50a Laptop that worked 100% with Gusty including the
smartlink-modem.

Step by step procedure:

1. Insert card into reader
2. Goto Places > Computer
3. Mount SDCARD
4. Retrieve pictures

What actually happened:

1. Insert card into reader
2. System froze, not responding to anything
