I just tried this on a test database: I pg_dump'ed an UTF-8 cluster with
some non-ASCII symbols (ü, €) and pg_restore'd it again to a LATIN9
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) cluster. The index was restored properly.

Thus this bug seems to be specific to your database. Does the db contain
anything confidential? If not, maybe you can send me the backup file
(mybase.backup) privately ([EMAIL PROTECTED])? If so, can you
generate a test case to reproduce this, based on your current schema and
some test data?
