I have the same problem whit the version of driver 180.40 in jaunty, my system randomly freeze. I tryed with the version 185.19, 180.29 and 180.16 of the nvidia proprietary drivers, but the problem still remain. With Intrepid there were no problem with 180.16 and 180.29. My nvidia card: 7300 LE
