Further information As the problem is to do with Open, Save, Save-As and as the problem is `global', that is, affects any application I have tried and as it is most unlikely that Ubuntu has released a desktop system with all Open, Save, Save-As programs broken, the problem may be due to permissions - and it is! using: sudo gedit, opening a file, then saving it with a different name WORKS! The new file has the owner and group set to root. So the applications can be used by root, but not a user (even though this Ubuntu has been released for just one user and that user has Admin permissions). -- Cannot open or save files with windows apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362064 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
