Hi,

I also have a Sony VAIO VGN-FW 140E and have tried to run Ubuntu 8.04,
8.10. I always get a gray screen w faded horizontal lines. If I try in
Safe Display mode...I see my cursor repeated all over the screen. I am
trying to run via LiveCD. I noticed I also have this issue if I try to
install PSLinuxOS.

Does anyone w a VAIO VGN-FW140E able to get Ubuntu to work with the
Intel Graphics card? Specs of my graphics set is as follows:

Display
Screen Size: 16.4"
Resolution: 1600 x 900
XBRITE-ECO™ Technology: Yes
Processor: Mobile Intel® Graphics Media
Accelerator 4500MHD with Intel® Clear Video
Technology
Total Available Graphics Memory: 1340MB
(max.)
Chipset: Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset
Interface: HDMI™ and VGA out with Smart
Display Sensor

Also, can I get this to work on LiveCD or will I need to install Ubuntu fully
on my HD in order to apply a fix? Can this be fixed via settings in the
xorg.conf??

Please advise. I am surprised there is no fix for this as of yet. I
have been looking on various forums.

Thanks
