Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio
In Intrepid, connecting the headphones to my HP Compaq nc8230 laptop resulted in the volume control applet and volume keys on my keyboard controlling the headphones; now, they always control the master volume, which is independent of the headphone volume. Note that this bug does look like it's probably a duplicate of #230408, and possibly should not be filed against pulseaudio, but 'dtchen' on #ubuntu+1 requested that I file the bug in this way to give him the info he needs.
