I'm having this problem with Jaunty RC - I get a prompt that says initramfs. I thought it might be related to my hard drive partitions using encrypted LUKS over LVM, so I removed the hard drive but still had the same problem.
Once I hit enter a couple times at the initramfs prompt and got past the problem to a boot screen but that was with Ubuntu 9.04 beta. This is really important to me. I want to distribute memory sticks equiped with pre-setup voip clients, vpns and encrypted email for friends. I also need to get the exact list of packages to pin/hold which will not be upgradable on a memory stick environment - ie Kernel, libc6?
