I disabled swapping and the problem occurs less frequently since then. Having no swap means that the the high disk activity after resuming from stand-by is due to something that goes on at file system level (I'm using ext3). I'm more than willing to help sort out this issue if anybody could tell me how.
This is a report of what I got after the last slow resume, which I eventually recovered from $ uptime 14:29:52 up 1 day, 5:27, 3 users, load average: 12.28, 10.22, 4.99 $ free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 2057156 1059960 997196 0 68348 99384 -/+ buffers/cache: 892228 1164928 Swap: 0 0 0 -- [Hardy] High system load coming out of suspend and hibernate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
