In lack of newer kernels, I can suggest building updated drm modules
separately. There is a drm-modules-sources package at
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa (in drm-snapshot) which
after installation can build and install the modules with "sudo module-
assistant auto-install drm-modules".
